VHS Girls Cross Country Team qualifies for the 2007 State Croos Country Meet

October 14, 2007

On Thursday, October 11, the Badger Cross Country teams traveled to the North Platte Iron Eagle Golf Course for the Class C -4 District Competition.  The weather provided cool but windy conditions.  To qualify for state an individual runner must place in the top 15 of the runners.  As a team, the top 3 go to state.  The girls had their best performance of the year as four runners ran PRs(Personal Records).  District is just the place for that to happen, as it put the Lady Badgers in 3rd place and they qualified for state cross country.  There were 11 teams in both the girls and boys competition.  On the boys side, Beau Billings qualified for state with a 14th individual placing in a time of 18:12.

The boys scoring was: Beau Billings 14th in 18:12, Sam Krzyzanowski 17th in 18:28, Travis Harvey 19th in 18:46(PR), Jordon Luthy 54th in 21:20, Kevin Klein 63rd in 23:13, and Travis Wheeler 64th in 25:40.  The boys placed 7th with 104 points.  Minden, the return Class C State Champions won the C-4 Districts with a score of 33.

The Lady Badgers scoring was:  Mica Schuchardt 4th in 16:51, Chelsea Boyd 12th in 17:16, Elie Schuchardt 16th in 17:38(PR), Sara Simmons 22nd in 18:02(PR), Jordan Bussinger 31st in 18:31(PR), and Rachel Dillon 32nd in 18:42(PR).  Valentine scored 53 points, Gothenburg was 2nd with 47 points, and winning the Class C-4 Districts was Broken Bow with 20 points.  Way to go Lady Badgers.
