Governor Heineman Visits Valentine Elementary
Did you know that the Governor of Nebraska has jumped out of an airplane? Had you heard that his workday starts at 6:45 and often doesn’t end until 9:30 or 10:00? The students at Valentine Elementary learned all kinds of interesting information during Governor Heineman’s visit to school on Tuesday, October 16.
Governor Heineman was welcomed to Valentine Elementary by fifth grade students, Annie Brickner, Kyle Johnson, and Bailey Leonard. All students and staff then honored Governor Heineman with the state song, “Beautiful Nebraska.” Mrs. Lori McQuistan, elementary music teacher, told the audience the history of the song and pointed out that this year is the 40th anniversary of its designation as the official state song of Nebraska.
Governor Heineman opened his presentation with a description of his job.
Then, he addressed questions that the fifth grade students prepared in their social studies class with Miss Molly Aschoff. Governor Heineman concluded his visit by answering questions from all of the students. The students thoroughly enjoyed meeting the Governor of Nebraska and feel very lucky that he came to their school.Governor Heineman Visits the Valentine Elementary School
