Veterans Day Program

At

           Valentine Elementary School

On Monday, November 12, 2007, Valentine Elementary School  presented a Veteran’s Day  program in the school’s multi-purpose

room at 8:40 a.m.  All 224 students, kindergarten through fifth grade,

teachers, and visitors attended the program.  Fifth grade students

Sophie Lopez and Arian Critchfield were the flag carriers.

The morning kindergarten classes opened the program by leading

the audience  in the Pledge of Allegiance.  The audience then joined in

singing “The Star-Spangled Banner”.  The fifth grade class welcomed

everyone and presented historical facts about Veteran’s Day, the Tomb

of The Unknown Soldier, and the significance between Veteran’s Day

and American Education Week.

The veterans who were in attendance were asked to tell the audience

their name, branch of service, and years of service.  Several musical

selections were performed.  The program continued with the entire

student body singing “The Pledge of Allegiance” with Jacy Miller as

narrator, a moment of silence to remember those fallen soldiers, and

concluded with the singing of “America The Beautiful”.
