Valentine High School 08-09 Winter Sports

High School Students Start Practices

Monday, November 17th, was the official day for the 2008 - 2009 Winter Sports Seasons to begin.  Practices for Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, and Wrestling began after school.  The wrestlers practice in the deck area of the gym and the boys and girls split early and late practices in the gym.  

33 girls reported for basketball practice.  That total includes 8 seniors, 7 juniors, 9 sophomores, and 9 freshmen.  30 boys reported for basketball practice with 4 seniors, 7 juniors, 9 sophomores, and 10 freshmen making the team.  23 boys reported for wrestling practice.  5 seniors, 4 juniors, 4 sophomores, and 10 freshmen will compete for 14 weight slots on varsity.  

Blake Beebout will be the head girls basketball coach and he will be assisted by Loralyn O'Kief and Tonya Lenser.  Jason Mitchell will lead the boys team this year with help from Wayne Harris and Jerry Arnold.  Shane Allison is once again the head wrestling coach and Boyd Powell and Tom Scott will be the two assistant coaches.
