Jan Knispel to Receive the NSAA Outstanding Service Award

Jan Knispel, Valentine High School Head Speech Coach, has been chosen by the Nebraska School Activities Association Board of Control to receive the 2010 Nebraska School Activities Association Outstanding Service Award. This award is given to individuals who have contributed greatly to the specific activities of the NSAA. Ms. Knispel is being acknowledged for her contributions to speech and play activities in Nebraska. Her career as a speech and drama coach spans 36 years beginning with her first teaching assignment at Minatare High School, Minatare, Nebraska. During this time, Ms. Knispel was responsible for establishing and growing competitive speech teams at Minatare and at Valentine High School. She was also head drama coach at both schools for a number of years. In addition, Ms. Knispel has been a judge at various invitational, conference, and district speech and play contests for many years as well as district contest director for both speech and one-act plays. She has been a certified judge for over fifteen years and has been chosen to judge at the NSAA State Speech Contest for over ten years. Ms. Knispel is currently a board member of the Nebraska Speech Communications and Theater Association representing District 6. The NSAA Outstanding Service Award will be presented at the NSAA State Speech Competition on March 18, 2010.
