2010 West Holt Speech Meet Results

The Valentine Speech Team returned from the West Holt Invitational Speech Tournament on Feb. 6, with eight medalists. Leading the Varsity team was the OID team of Alex Bauer, Sarah Simmons and Titus Utecht with 2nd place. Paige May was a double medalist with a third place medal in Informative speaking and a 5th place medal in Serious prose. Titus Utecht, Sarah Simmons and Alex Bauer were also double medalists by placing Simmons 5th and Bauer 6th in Humorous prose and Utecht 6th in Extemp. Placing 5th in Extemp was teammate Esther Petersen. Varsity superiors were received by Raina Campbell in Poetry and Anne and Paige May in duet, followed by Bauer and Utecht in Impromptu Duet. The solo medalist in Novice events was Sydney Dexter, 2nd in Serious prose. Other novice speakers competing were Colton Scott and Dan Medema. The team placed 5th out of 18 teams competing at West Holt. The VHS speech team will compete at the one of the biggest regional tournaments in Nebraska on February 13, The Blue and Gold Invitational at North Platte.
